New Season Begins

The 2009-2010 season for Great Plains Diving Association officially kicked off Tuesday, September 8th. For detailed practice times please refer to the 'Groups’' page of the website.  The meet schedule is also available on the 'Meets' page of the website. Several changes have been enacted for the 2009-2010 season, these changes are designed to better train and prepare our athletes for all levels of competition.

Among the changes GPDA divers will have unparalleled access to a national caliber dryland training facility at the ATC. Approximately one-half of all training will occur at the dryland center which will allow the divers to more efficiently and effectively focus upon key technical and physical elements such as core stability, balance, rudimentary skill development, and strength training all of which are more easily accomplished on land.

Furthermore, GPDA will be holding four 'testing dates' at which the divers will perform a series of dryland and water skills based upon their current level of training to insure quality and effectiveness of training and to more accurately determine which training group is most appropriate for each athlete.

Finally, referring again to the 2009-2010 Meet Schedule, GPDA has collaborated with the Midwest's leading programs to establish skill based competitions allowing each program to improve training and to cooperatively analyze best practices for continued and improved success. Participating programs include: GPDA, Nebraska Diving Club (Lincoln, NE), Missouri Diving Club (Columbia, MO), and St Louis Diving (St Peter's, MO).
