The Great Plains Diving League is governed and managed by the Great Plains Diving Association, merging the advanced training methods of GPDA, with the recreational and team components of summer league diving. GPDL teams are comprised of GPDA athletes grouped geographically. GPDL teams compete on a bi-weekly basis against other GPDL teams. The school year is broken into three seasons: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Each season concludes with a GPDL Championship Meet which brings all competing teams together to determine overall individual and team championships.
All divers receive ribbons at each bi-weekly meet, and the top 3 divers receive medals at the seasonal championships meets.
GPDL teams are affiliated members of GPDA, but each team has its own identity (team name, colors, t-shirts) fostering teamwork and competitive spirit within each group. Each GPDL team also relies heavily upon parent volunteers for organizational and logistical support.
GPDL coaches are all members of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and have successfully completed GPDA’s comprehensive coaches’ training course, insuring safe, effective training for all GPDL athletes.
The GPDL is intended to serve as a bridge for athletes that enjoy diving to continue to improve their skills throughout the school year, and to serve as an opportunity for those athletes to gain exposure to year-round diving and more advanced, modern, safe diving techniques.
